Review:
This is the debut of the Sweet Valley High series. In this issue Jessica (ever the conniving bitch) is after Todd, who is after Elizabeth, who Elizabeth also wants to date.

However, Jessica has set her sights on Todd (for whatever reason). Jessica doesn't pull out any stops on trying to get what she wants, and she usually does get what she wants. She even goes so far as allowing everyone to believe it's Elizabeth (not her) who gets picked up at a trashy bar after the town's sleeziest guy (Rick, whom she was seeing) was arrested for a bar fight.

And finally, when Jessica manages to swindle Todd into taking her to a school dance she finally realizes that Todd only has eyes for her sister. So, what does she do? You know Jessica, she has to make up yet another rumor about how Todd sexually harassed her...just to put him on Elizabeth's bad side.

However, in the end Todd and Elizabeth finally realize what Jessica is up to, and they play their own prank. Jessica gets dumped in the pool at a school gathering.

Yet...in the meantime the Wakefield kids are noticing their parents aren't spending any time together anymore and everyone's nerves to seem to be on edge. In addition to this, Ned Wakefield has a new business partner, Marianna West (who dresses racy and is newly divorced). The twins suspect the worst but in the end Ned is only aiding Marianna in becoming a new business partner, right?

And, that's not the only drama...Steve (the twin's brother) has finally let the cat out of the bag that he's in love with the daughter of one of the trashiest families in Sweet Valley.

From 'the real' eyes and ears of Sweet Valley High:

First of all we all know that Todd spent his time and affections on Jessica for more reason than one. Of course he wanted to be all over that, but he also knew how lose Jessica was, so he took the better twin. Oh, and when Jessica accused Todd of 'touching' her after the dance, she wasn't lying. He did, because she wanted him to. But, what dear Elizabeth doesn't know won't hurt her.

As for Ned Wakefield, he's been seen more than once in awkward, intimate situations with Marianna West. What Todd won't admit is how he spied on their hot, lusty love affair through a window...but why would he tell on Ned when, after all, he was learning from him? Poor Mrs. Wakefield...or does she have her own secret beau too?

And please, no one is buying the fact that Steve is dating Tricia from the goodness of his heart. Tricia gives Steve what he wants so he simply keeps coming back for more.
